Family
Dollar: Class Action, Store managers working
for Family Dollar were made to do menial
tasks and perform little or no management
work while not paid overtime
Store managers across the country have been
forced to work extreme overtime hours and
perform the work of the hourly retail
employees while being paid a set non-hourly
salary. The Family Dollar store managers
worked sometimes 100 hours each week
cleaning toilets, sweeping floors, working
side-by-side with hourly employees doing the
same exact jobs that hourly employees would
have been paid overtime for. Our clients,
the store managers, were loyal, could not
have worked any harder, yet were not paid
the fair wages that they were entitled to be
paid under the law. The jury has already
found in Morgan vs. Family Dollar that store
managers were entitled to overtime and they
awarded the hard working employees of Family
Dollar 17 million dollars in back wages and
another 17 million in liquidated damages.
Further, Family Dollar also had to pay the
plaintiff's class attorney's fees. To date,
Family Dollar continues their same wage and
pay practices. Complaint / Decision.
